Module LV-LV3 (all): Launch Vehicle Classes, Launches, Revenue and Capacity

We discuss in the Launch Vehicle Modules following Modules, the demand for Launch vehicles has never been higher. We will look at some of the new forecasted launch vehicles that are planned on the market and what that does to the overall spacecraft capacity/availability for deployment. The last four years have been the largest average of launches in recent history and if not for technical issues with launch vehicles, 2016 would have been one of the highest on record. Due to those issues, a large backlog has been created, leading into a rapidly growing spacecraft market that is pushing the demand over the next 6 years above the last 20 years combined.

The reduction in spacecraft size and the demand for more communications and earth imaging systems has created a large market for Micro and Small launch vehicles. Historically smaller launch vehicles have existed, but the civil and defense launch vehicles are aged and expensive to operate. We discuss the demands for affordable on-demand launch vehicles are what will be key to the success of all segments (Civil, Defense and Commercial) for launch vehicles.
