Module S2: Spacecraft Budget and Cost Model(s)

825.00

This module, based on spacecraft data from Module S1, evaluates the satellite/spacecraft market’s budget and expenditure plans by evaluating the missions, customer base, types of vehicles, and demand along with the trends and gaps. We will focus on 4 key markets:

  • NASA, NOAA, and Education - Civil Space Markets
  • US DOD, DARPA, Defense Labs and USCG
  • Commercial
  • International (noncommercial).

The primary focus is to look at the budget allocated, forecasted and planned for all areas of spacecraft.  We identify the addressable budgets in each market based on historical top level budgets, cost of design, development, validation and production, and where we forecast the market to go based on today’s geopolitical situation.

We evaluate the risks and opportunities that will impact and be addressable to commercial companies. This includes the continued interest of foreign developers in satellite systems and what that does for the indigenous producers of those technologies. We will also discuss what the forecast will look like based on reasonable assumptions for out-year spacecraft builds.
